Legal Content Writer – Tampa, FL – San Francisco, CA – Chicago, IL

We are searching for a part-time writer who can produce legal content for our clients including long-form pages, articles, blogs, newsletters, and web content. Some content will require legal understandings while other types of content are for marketing purposes.

All applicants must have an unwavering dedication to deadlines. This position requires customer service skills as well as newsworthy writing ability.

Law firms make up our entire client base. As such, research is often required, and most of our writers become well informed of U.S. law, legal proceedings, current ideological debates and groundbreaking cases. A strong commitment to fact checking is a must.

You must possess the skills necessary to self edit and produce client-ready content. We have tight, non-negotiable deadlines each month which must be met without compromise. A cheerful love of organization and scheduling will be essential to success.

About the Position

While periodic remote working is allowed, writers may be required to work a certain number of hours at the nearest office (Tampa, FL, San Francisco, CA, or Chicago, IL). We have office space open to our staff — people coming in and out, a bright and spacious design, and bottomless coffee and hot chocolates to help you meet your deadlines. Routine office hours, monthly staff meetings and some meetings with local clients will be required.

The content our writers produce becomes the property of our clients. Occasionally, writers will have the opportunity to publish under their own names in our bimonthly magazine and internal publications.

Technical Skills Required

– At least two years of professional content writing and/or marketing and branding experience. Writing samples will be requested.

– Strong familiarity with AP style. Impeccable spelling and grammar. The ability to form engaging, accurate and easily digestible content from complex, specialized information.

– The ability to work with our design and development team on web content projects.

– A professional demeanor when meeting and communicating with our clients, even in the face of harsh criticism.

Experience in web content will be a great plus. Any contact with or background in legal work will be similarly beneficial. Primarily, we want writers who are eager to research, analyze and learn and who have demonstrable experience to support their abilities.
